Is The Golden Corral Buffet Worth It?

Golden Corral offers 150+ food items at their buffet. The average patron spends about forty-five to sixty minutes in the restaurant. Among the most popular things at this buffet are:

  • Sirloin steak
  • Fried chicken
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Burger bar
  • Mac and cheese
  • Carrot cake
  • Butterfly shrimp
  • Chocolate fountain
  • Cotton candy

It was our first time here and we wanted to get a taste of the most well-liked dishes. We went for lunch because we are cheap and did not desire to pay an extra five dollars per person. We did avail of the unlimited drinks.

So Where Shall We Begin?

  • Build-Your-Own Burger Bar:

It’s one of the high points of the buffet and rightfully so. You can have fresh patties, a few seasonings, and cheese and they’ll grill the burger while you wait some minutes. The burger tastes amazing. Plus, true to the name, you can append your choice of toppings such as onions, mushrooms, and peppers.

  • Steak:

It’s more than what you would expect from a low-cost buffet. Heck, where else can you locate a $10 buffet that serves steak? Granted, the steak was not really marinated, just brined. They did cook it to our specification, medium rare. And I am content about that.

  • Smoked Pit Ham:

Golden Corral also offers smoked pit ham which was carved or sliced to order. The meat is tender and not dry, plus you can append stuff such as shrimp scampi to make it feel more sophisticated.

  • Pizza:

Now let’s comment on the pizza. The slices are small, which is not a problem, to be honest, because you can always get numerous slices. But what did not sit right with us was the texture and taste, it did not feel or look or taste like freshly made pizza. It was more like a frozen pizza that they just reheated.

  • Fried Chicken:

Now let’s talk a little about the fried chicken because, for me, it was the star of the show. I know. Having fried chicken at the buffet might not exactly be what you’re hoping for but Aunt B’s fried chicken is amazing and it is not soggy. It is served fresh from the fryer, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside.

  • Butterfly Shrimp:

Another well-liked item is the butterfly shrimp. It has crispy breading and it is seasoned well. The chili tastes like the ones you get at Wendy’s, which was not bad. Then there are scalloped potatoes and sautéed mushrooms.

  • Desserts:

Now, let’s move on to desserts. We totally loved the chocolate fountain! There are numerous choices for dips such as strawberries, rice Krispies, and sugar cookies. Somebody recommended fried chicken but I cannot even start to fathom what that’d taste like.

Finally, the most popular dessert at Golden Corral would be the 24-Karat Carrot Cake. It had a cream cheese frosting, a tender crumb crust, and big shreds of carrots in the cake. It was not excessively sweet which is good.

For 10.49 dollars, the lunch buffet at Golden Corral is one hundred percent worth it. You need to try it out for yourself. And do not forget to get freshly spun cotton candy before leaving!
